Hollywood's Twitter Epidemic
Have you tweeted this morning? The Hollywood twitter epidemic started late last year when when notable actors and musicians started registering with the 140 character website that simply asks you What are you doing? Now the question is who isn’t on twitter. If you ever wanted to stalk see what you’re favorite celebrities are doing just hit them up on twitter. Even publicist are boarding the twitter train.
The role of those middleman — aka celebrity publicists — is shifting from primarily setting up media interviews and photo shoots, to schooling their clients about how to make the most of their 140-character postings called tweets.Though some celebrities have others twitter for them, Nate Schreiber, president of publicity firm PMK/HBH whose clients include Miley, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, said tweeting several times a day and in an authentic manner is most effective. Last month, Kutcher grabbed headlines when he beat CNN in a race to garner 1 million Twitter followers.(Source)
It’s true that some celebrities on twitter aren’t really the celebrities themselves and some accounts are regular people posing as celebrities or even hackers.
I think Hollywood as hit it’s internet peak. While it’s cool to find your favorites and see what’s going through their heads, I sometimes feel that twitter also feeds into their egos. Who wouldn’t feel good about themselves when they have hundreds of thousands of people “following” and hanging on to their every tweet. But twitter can be a benefit because celebrities can get the word out about things that mean the most to them like Ashton Kutcher did with Malaria No More.
Go here to find favorite celebrity on twitter or even me.
